united-healthcare-logoThe Atlanta Heart Group works with major insurance providers such as United Healthcare to make certain our heart patients can receive the very best cardiac care. From EKGs to stress tests, we are committed to providing compassionate diagnostic care to our patients without the added worry as to whether a needed service is covered.

We offer an array of consultative cardiology services from our two locations at Decatur and Lithonia, and at DeKalb Medical and St. Joseph’s, as well. These service include the following:

  • Electrocardiogram (EKC or ECG). Your heart is prompted to beat by electrical impulses triggered by special cells in the heart. We monitor these impulses to look for such things as artery blockages, arrhythmia, problems with the valves, evidence of heart attack and other abnormalities.
  • Echocardiogram. Using sound waves, we image your heart muscle to observe its functions and identify potential problems with the heart muscle or valves.
  • Stress test. We look at how your heart is responding to different levels of physical exertion, which can reveal more than if your body is at rest.
  • Nuclear stress test. This is essentially a “before and after” image of the heart that measures blood flow when you are at rest and after you have exercised.
  • Cardiac catheterization. Using a catheter, we look inside your arteries and veins near the heart to identify arterial blockages and narrowing, and to assess your risk for heart attack or other heart disease.
  • Anticoagulation therapy. Using medications and therapy, we manage the thinness of your blood as it flows through the cardiovascular system.

Because these services may be critical to our ability to provide correct diagnosis and treatment, the Atlanta Heart Group works with United Healthcare to make sure these services are covered as much as possible. We also provide comprehensive explanations and preparation instructions for each of these services on our website, so our patients know how to prepare for these procedures.

We believe all our heart patients should have access to the very best diagnostic services and treatments, and whenever possible, we want to reduce the added stress of financial costs. This is why we proudly work with United Healthcare and other providers to make sure our patients receive the services they need, when they need them.
