Instructions for Echocardiography Procedures

Echocardiography (ECHO)

• Allow approximately 30 minutes for this procedure
• No preparations are required for this procedure
• Wear a 2 piece outfit

Prior to your scheduled stress test, DO NOT participate in any strenuous and/or tiring physical activity.

Stress Echocardiography

• Allow approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the procedure
• Follow your physician’s instructions concerning which medications to take prior to your procedure
• DO NOT EAT or DRINK two (2) hours prior to the test
• Wear a comfortable 2-piece outfit
• Wear comfortable walking shoes (NO flip flops or slides)

Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram

• Allow approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the procedure
• Follow your physician’s instructions concerning which medications to take prior to your procedure
• DO NOT EAT or DRINK 4 hours prior to the procedure
• Wear a 2-piece outfit
